About Us
James River Electric, Inc. is a full-service, single-source, electrical contracting company organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. JRE was founded in 2005 by Kent Butler, a second-generation Master Electrician and Class A Contractor, after working under the umbrella of large electrical contractors in progressive capacities for nearly 20 years. Mr. Butler desired to start JRE for being in business to assist customers in achieving their goals by safely designing, installing and maintaining their electrical systems in a manner that is cost effective.

At JRE our mission is to provide high quality services on-time and at a fair price. We are hands-on in our approach to each project. This results in a higher level of customer service and attention to detail than is normally provided by larger electrical contractors. In order to achieve our mission, we act with the utmost honesty, respect and integrity when dealing with our clients, vendors and each other, as a team.
